I was raised by two very strong parents that immigrated from Mexico to the United States when I was 2 years old. As I grew up and witnessed all the hard work and struggles they went through with language barriers, discrimination, and many other difficulties, I began to grow a passion for being the person that would be there to support those that needed it the most. With the assistance of my parents, I was able to be the first person in my family to acquire higher education. I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned my bachelor’s in psychology and anthropology. During my time as a student at UNL I was involved in volunteer work assisting communities in all kinds of different circumstances and I was a mentor for first year students with the WHT community at UNL. After graduation, I began my search for where I could find a way to develop my passion. I worked with the Department of Health and Human Services serving families and children going through trauma and crisis. I worked alongside lawyers, advocates, judges, parents, and children of all ages. I then continued my work at Community Action Partnership, where I worked with Spanish speaking immigrant parents and families living in poverty. I assisted families through crisis and finding community resources. I am now very excited to be part of the CARE team and to have the opportunity to offer my listening ear and support to survivors. Outside the office, I love to spend time with my family and friends especially when we’re doing adventurous activities such as being out in the lake, 4-wheeling in the forests, or camping on a beach, and anything that involves traveling. I have my wonderful dog and cat that I consider my babies and try to include them in every activity that I do. I also have plant babies all around my home that I cherish and try to keep alive for as long as possible.
